Dear Colleagues,
When Prof. Fritz Schröder and I decided to organize a meeting on
Prostate Cancer, we were well aware that the subject has always
been – and will continue to be - one of intense controversy
throughout the medical world. Opinions continue to swirl about the
best modes of diagnosis and treatment for this disease that
affects a high percentage of the world’s male population.
Proponents of various methods claim to have found the Holy Grail
of treatments, which are soon after hotly refuted by the
practitioners of former methods and proponents of other
breakthrough approaches. In short, the subject of Prostate Cancer,
as in the past, promises to be, in the future, one of the most
passionately disputed areas – not only in urology but in medicine
in general.
In order to shed light on this continuously debated issue, Prof.
Schröder and I have invited a number of distinguished Portuguese
and foreign experts who will certainly provide our audience and
participants with a better understanding of where we stand in the
diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.
We cordially invite you to attend. The collective knowledge and
experience of the speakers we have selected will undoubtedly open
new windows on the issue, and help everyone attending to choose
the most appropriate methods of diagnosis and treatment for one of
the world’s most prevalent forms of cancer.
